Web/Email/Telephone Counselling
There may be reasons why you are unable to leave the house to attend counselling such as disability, lack of childcare or transport, or perhaps you live in a rural location, far from Cardiff or even outside of the UK. If so then there are alternatives to face-to-face counselling.
- Web counselling – Skype is a free programme that you can use in order to engage in counselling in the privacy of your own home. All you need is to download the programme from here and make sure you have a microphone, headset and sound). Your level of service and confidentiality is the same as if we are in the same room.
- Email counselling – Perhaps you find it easier to communicate your feelings by writing things down rather than verbally, are shy, or perhaps you live outside of the UK? If so then email counselling may be right for you.
- Telephone counselling – If you live in the UK and prefer to use a telephone rather than computers then this may be the right option for you. Years of working at the Samaritans has shown me that people find it just as easy to open up on the telephone as they do face-to-face, and not being able to ‘see’ someone doesn’t mean that warmth, empathy and supportiveness cannot be felt down a telephone wire.
